Walking can help you lose more weight than running
When you think about losing weight you often consider any form of cardio. Running, jumping jacks, high knees or any type of high intensity workout will do the trick. What is often overlooked is the benefits of walking.
Betterhealth.gov shares on their website shares some tips on the benefits of walking. Walking can “increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance.” Walking can prevent heart disease., type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and cancer. One benefit overlooked is how walking can prevent one from overeating.
When you perform a high intensity exercise your body will require much nourishment afterwards. Most individuals try to eat more calories after this kind workout and end up offsetting any kind of weight that they lost. If one is trying to maintain weight, this practice is beneficial. If one is trying to lose weight, this wouldn’t be ideal.
If one chooses to walk instead of run, he/she will not feel as hungry afterwards. They wouldn’t require as much nourishment which means that they can still burn a fair amount of calories and not feel the need to gain it back.
